Dr. Valerie Gurney

Clinical Consultant, served on the faculty at Cornell University's Weill Medical College. During her time at Cornell, Dr. Gurney worked at the Cornell Eating Disorder Program, a nationally recognized program for the treatment of eating disorders. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Ohio University in Athens. Dr. Gurney was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Eating Disorders at Brown University's School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island. She provided outpatient treatment for eating disorders as well as consultation services to inpatient and day hospital programs at Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Gurney served as Program Director when Laurel Hill Inn opened in November 2000. She was instrumental in developing the group curriculum for the program and provided extensive eating disorder training for all of the clinical team. Dr. Gurney provides supervision for our staff psychologists and has been a consultant for the program for the past ten years. She maintains a small private practice in Arlington, MA.
