-
What are the meal times like?
-
Breakfast is at 8:15 A.M., Lunch at 12:00 P.M. and Dinner at 5:30 P.M. Some type of relaxation/anxiety reduction activity is held before all meals. The meals are limited to 30 minutes. Residents are encouraged to pace their eating appropriately and to practice engaging in conversation during meals. A supervised activity or group will follow each meal in order to help residents deal with any purging urges. Snacks will be determined according to individual needs. All meals and snacks are supervised by staff. Meals are served in a pleasant, relaxed setting to reduce anxiety and develop positive associations with meals.
-
What structures are in place to help me with my purgative behaviors?
-
After each meal, there is an hour of supervised activity. All bathrooms are locked and require staff supervision for use. Staff usually stands out of the bathroom and then checks it when the resident is finished.
-
What progress can I expect from treatment?
-
We believe that the process of recovery is exactly that, a process. Recovery
depends on many factors including treatment, individual readiness, and
supportive relationships. After treatment, you will not be cured or "all
fixed", but we hope you will have made significant steps toward recovery;
enough steps that you will be able to continue the process of recovery with
your outpatient treatment team, in your home community, while participating
more fully in daily life.
-
Will staff be available at night?
-
Staff is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Overnight staff is available to help residents deal with problem solving and management of their eating disorder symptoms.
