The Laurel Hill Inn Day Treatment Program
The Laurel Hill Inn Day Treatment Program allows for intensive eating disorder treatment while an individual continues to live at home. In some cases, day treatment is often the appropriate next step following inpatient or residential treatment. Others may choose day treatment to increase structure and to aid in breaking disordered behavior patterns, as well as to support the work individuals are engaged in with their outpatient team.
The Day Treatment Program is a group-based program for adults 18 years and older and has a strong emphasis on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Both approaches have proven to be extremely effective and used widely in the treatment of eating disorders by clinicians trained in this discipline. Each day is composed of groups to help clients acquire techniques for managing emotions, tolerating distress, and making connections between distorted thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Our groups include process and planning, skill building, relaxation techniques & yoga practice, art therapy, nutrition education, body image and relapse prevention.
Laurel Hill Inn’s Day Treatment provides structure and therapeutic support around meals to help our clients recognize and change ED behaviors. Laurel Hill Inn provides the breakfast, lunch and snack foods and clients have the opportunity to practice portioning their meals and snacks and work with the staff nutritionist to create a balanced meal plan with appropriate variety. This hands-on experience allows individuals to become familiar with their meal plan and increases confidence in meeting nutritional needs outside of the program structure.
The structure of the program is dedicated to real-life skills practice, and learning through personal experiences with the goal of increasing individuals’ capacity to fully participate in and enjoy life. We help our clients to begin to build structure and integrate activities into their daily routine while working towards recovery.
